All Originals at Coastal Kayak!

Belle, Madison, & Meghan holding up their original designs.

Our staff is amazingly talented! Kayakers, paddleboarders, surfers, sailors, teachers, scientists, videographers, boat-builders, fish-whisperers, and…incredible artists. This year we had two art students and a graphic design professional on staff and luckily, they were willing to put their creative powers to work for us!

Belle recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art. This fall she is returning to campus to work in the Old College Gallery where she’ll be curating and organizing new art shows for the gallery. Ultimately, she’d love to work for a museum in DC.

Last year Belle designed the concept for our “Adventure Awaits” tee. The tank tops are super-popular and this year we also put the design on a ladies performance long-sleeve tee.

Madison is starting her last year as a Fine Arts major at the University of Delaware. After graduation she hopes to join the Peace Corp or Conservation Corp and then, who knows?! She’s been very busy as a student – she co-wrote and completely illustrated a children’s book called Commotion in the Ocean about the invasive lionfish (https://baconbitmadison.wixsite.com/madisonbacon/commotion-in-the-ocean) and is currently working on graphic novel.

Madison created our “Life on Little Assawoman Bay” design. It is fun and colorful and includes all the creatures above and below the water!

What hasn’t Meghan done? She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts Photography from University of Delaware, got her Master’s in Education, spent three years as a principal in Guatemala, got her yoga certification in Bali, started her own beach yoga business back here in Delaware (Surf & Soul Yoga), and has recently moved to San Francisco to begin a new teaching job. She designed her first T-shirt at age 10 for her softball team but credits her high school art teacher for getting her hooked on graphic arts.

Meghan created our lovable jellyfish “Big Hugs” design and also tweaked the “Adventure Awaits” design to be T-shirt ready.
