Kayak ACA Certification

American Canoe Association Instructor Certification

Ever thought of becoming an instructor?

Coastal Kayak is one of only a few outfitters in the United States able to offer Instructor Certification in both kayak and stand-up paddling!

Kayak Instructor Certification

To become certified as an American Canoe Association Instructor you must participate in an Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) and an Instructor Certification Exam (ICE). The time it takes to complete the certification varies depending on the level you hope to achieve. Course times range from 2-7 days. The primary emphasis of the IDW is developing good teaching skills as well as fine tuning strokes, rescues, and group management. The ICE is an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their proficiency in group management, safety, teaching paddling and rescue skills, and overall knowledge.

Being certified by the ACA offers many benefits including the worldwide recognition of the ACA as a leader in paddlesport education. The ACA has been certifying instructors for over 40 years. As a certified ACA instructor you will become a member of a highly motivated and dedicated group of instructors who are constantly striving to stay abreast of ever-changing teaching techniques as well as adapting to the continual changes in the sport. In addition, ACA instructors can obtain very cost effective insurance for their courses and have a wealth of tools at their disposal such as course outlines, educational materials, discounts on equipment, advertising your courses, etc.
